All prices are starting prices, not fixed prices. The final price depends on the style and how complex the work is — heavy or delicate fabrics, lined garments, very wide or flared hems, cuffs, and rush jobs cost more. You always get the exact price before we start.
We currently do hemming only. No waist adjustments, zipper replacement, sleeve shortening, or suit and jacket alterations.

Email or use the contact form. Tell us the item and how much shorter you want it. Firm price within 48 hours.

Drop off or mail in
Book a drop-off time in Kerrisdale, or mail it from anywhere in BC. Shipping address is sent once your order is confirmed. Postage paid by the customer both ways.

Pick up or receive
Standard turnaround is 3–5 business days, counted from the day we receive the item to the day it's ready for pick-up or goes back in the mail.
Where we work
By appointment in Vancouver. Drop-off and pick-up in Kerrisdale, South Vancouver. We're a home-based studio, so the exact address is shared when you book.
By mail across British Columbia. Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Coquitlam, New Westminster, Delta, Langley, Victoria, Kelowna and everywhere else Canada Post reaches. Postage is paid by you, both ways, at Canada Post rates.
Why Topology
We've been making clothing since 2018. Topology runs a small-batch garment production studio in Vancouver — pattern making, sampling and production for independent brands. The alterations studio uses the same people and the same understanding of how garments are built, applied to the one pair of pants that's been sitting in your closet because it's two inches too long.

We know how denim, silk, jersey and lined fabrics behave when cut and hemmed. If something shouldn't be altered, we'll tell you.
Frequently asked questions
How long does it take?
Standard turnaround is 3–5 business days (Monday to Friday, not counting weekends), counted from the day your item arrives to the day it's ready for pick-up or shipped back. Mail-in orders add Canada Post transit time each way, so plan on roughly 1.5–2 weeks door to door within BC. Need it sooner? Ask — rush service is quoted separately.
How do I tell you how much to take off?
Pin or mark the new length while wearing the shoes you'll wear with the item, then send a photo. Or tell us the finished length you want.
What is an "original hem" on jeans?
Instead of cutting off the factory hem and sewing a new one, we remove the excess denim above the hem and reattach the original edge. The faded wash line and stitching stay, so the jeans look like they came that length from the store.
Can you shorten IKEA curtains?
Yes. Most IKEA panels come 250 cm or 300 cm long and are meant to be hemmed. Tell us the finished length you want (rod height to floor, minus the clearance you like) and we'll hem each panel to match.
How much is shipping for mail-in?
Postage is paid by the customer both ways at Canada Post rates — we don't mark it up. As a guide, a small parcel with one or two garments within BC is typically around $13–20 each way, and Canada Post's extra-small flat rate box ($18.99, up to 5 kg) works anywhere in Canada. We confirm the return postage amount with you before shipping the item back.
What if I'm not happy with the result?
Tell us within 7 days and we'll adjust it at no charge. If we've made a mistake we'll fix it or refund the alteration cost.
